A MIGHTY FORTRESS IS OUR GOD
Psalm 46

A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing;

Our helper He, amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing:

For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe;

His craft and power are great, and, armed with cruel hate,

On earth is not his equal.

Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing;

Were not the right Man on our side, the Man of God’s own choosing:

Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He;

Lord Sabaoth, His Name, from age to age the same,

And He must win the battle.

And though this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us,

We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph through us:

The Prince of Darkness grim, we tremble not for him;

His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure,

One little word shall fell him.

That word above all earthly powers, no thanks to them, abideth;

The Spirit and the gifts are ours through Him Who with us sideth:

Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also;

The body they may kill: God’s truth abideth still,

His kingdom is forever!

ABBA FATHER, LET ME BE

Abba Father, let me be, Yours and Yours alone.

May my will forever be, ever more Your own,

Never let my heart grow cold, never let me go.

Abba Father, let me be, Yours and Yours alone.

ABIDE WITH ME

Abide with me, fast falls the eventide; the darkness deepens, Lord, with me abide.
When other helpers fail and comforts flee, help of the helpless, O abide with me.

Swift to its close ebbs out life's little day; earth's joys grow dim, its glories pass away; Change and decay in all around I see; O Thou who changest not, abide with me.

I need Thy presence every passing hour. What but Thy grace can foil the tempter's power? Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be? Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.

I fear no foe, with Thee at hand to bless; ills have no weight, and tears not bitterness.
Where is death's sting? Where, grave, thy victory?  I triumph still, if Thou abide with me.

Reveal Thyself before my closing eyes;  shine through the gloom and point me to the skies. Heaven's morning breaks, and earth's vain shadows flee; in life, in death, O Lord, abide with me.

ALL CREATURES OF OUR GOD AND KING

All creatures of our God and King, lift up your voice and with us sing:
Allelujah, Allelujah!
Thou burning sun with golden beam, thou silver moon with softer gleam:

O praise Him, O praise Him, Allelujah, Allelujah!  Allelujah!

Thou rushing wind that art so strong, ye clouds that sail in heav'n along,
O praise Him! Allelujah!
Thou rising morn, in praise rejoice, ye lights of evening, find a voice:
Chorus

Thou flowing water, pure and clear, make music for thy Lord to hear,
Allelujah!, Allelujah!
Thou fire so masterful and bright, that givest man both warmth and light:
Chorus

And all ye men of tender heart, forgiving others, take your part,
O sing ye! Allelujah!
Ye who long pain and sorrow bear, praise God and on Him cast your care:
Chorus

Let all things their Creator bless, and worship Him in humbleness:
O praise Him! Allelujah!
Praise, praise the Father, praise the Son, and praise the Spirit, Three in One
Chorus

ALL HAIL THE POWER OF JESUS’ NAME

All hail the power of Jesus' name!  Let angels prostrate fall;
Bring forth the royal diadem, and crown Him Lord of all.

Crown Him, ye martyrs of your God, who from His altar call;
Extol the Stem of Jesse's Rod, and crown Him Lord of all.

Ye seed of Israel's chosen race, ye ransomed from the fall,

Hail Him who saves you by His grace, and crown Him Lord of all.

Sinners, whose love can ne'er forget, the wormwood and the gall,

Go spread your trophies at His feet, and crown Him Lord of all.

Let every kindred, every tribe, on this terrestrial ball,

To Him all majesty ascribe, and crown Him Lord of all.

O that with yonder sacred throng, we at His feet may fall!

We'll join the everlasting song, and crown Him Lord of all.

ALL MY DAYS (BEAUTIFUL SAVIOUR)

All my days, I will sing this song of gladness. Give my praise the Fountain of delights;

For in my helplessness You heard my cry, and waves of mercy poured down on my life.

I will trust in the cross of my Redeemer; I will sing of the blood that nev--er fails, of

Sins forgiven, of conscience cleansed, of death defeated and life without end.

Beautiful Saviour, Wonderful Counsel-or, clothed in majesty,
Lord of history, You're the Way the Truth, the Life,
Star of the Morning. Glorious ho--liness,
You're the Risen One, Heaven's Champion, and You reign, You reign, over all.

I long to be, where the praise is never ending; yearn to dwell where the glory never fades,

Where count-less worshippers will share one song; and cries of worthy will honour the Lamb.
Chorus

ALL PEOPLE THAT ON EARTH DO DWELL

All people that on earth do dwell, sing to the Lord with cheerful voice.

Him serve with fear, His praise forth tell; come ye before Him and rejoice.

Know that the Lord is good indeed; without our aid He did us make;

We are His folk, He doth us feed, and for His sheep He doth us take.

O enter then His gates with praise; approach with joy His courts unto;

Praise, laud, and bless His Name always, for it is seemly so to do.

For why? The Lord our God is good; His mercy is for ever sure;

His truth at all times firmly stood, and shall from age to age endure.

To Father, Son and Holy Ghost, the God Whom Heaven and earth adore,

From men and from the angel host, be praise and glory evermore.

ALL THE WAY MY SAVIOUR LEADS ME

All the way my Saviour leads me; what have I to ask beside?

Can I doubt His tender mercy, Who through life has been my Guide?

Heav’nly peace, divinest comfort, here by faith in Him to dwell!

For I know, whate’er befall me, Jesus doeth all things well. (x2)

All the way my Saviour leads me, cheers each winding path I tread;

Gives me grace for every trial, feeds me with the living Bread.

Though my weary steps may falter, and my soul athirst may be,

Gushing from the Rock before me, Lo! A spring of joy I see. (x2)

All the way my Saviour leads me, O the fullness of His love!

Perfect rest to me is promised, in my Father’s house above.

When my spirit clothed immortal wings it flight to realms of day

This my song through endless ages — Jesus led me all the way! (x2)

AMAZING GRACE

Amazing grace! How sweet the sound, that saved a wretch like me;
I once was lost, but now am found; was blind, but now I see.

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear, and grace my fears relieved;

How precious did that grace appear, the hour I first believed!

Through many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come

‘Tis grace that brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me home.

When we’ve been there a thousand years, bright shining as the sun

We’ve no less days to sing God’s praise, than when we first begun.

AND CAN IT BE

And can it be that I should gain an interest in the Saviour’s blood?

Died He for me, who caused His pain for me, who Him to death pursued?

Amazing love! How can it be, that Thou, my God, shouldst die for me? (x2)

’Tis mystery all: th’ Immortal dies: Who can explore His strange design?

In vain the firstborn seraph tries, to sound the depths of love divine.

’Tis mercy all! Let earth adore, let angel minds inquire no more. (x2)

He left His Father’s throne above, so free, so infinite His grace

Emptied Himself of all but love, and bled for Adam’s helpless race:

’Tis mercy all, immense and free, for O my God, it found out me! (x2)

Long my imprisoned spirit lay, fast bound in sin and nature’s night;

Thine eye diffused a quickening ray I woke, the dungeon flamed with light;

My chains fell off, my heart was free, I rose, went forth, and followed Thee. (x2)

No condemnation now I dread; Jesus, and all in Him, is mine;

Alive in Him, my living Head, and clothed in righteousness divine,

Bold I approach th’eternal throne, and claim the crown, through Christ my own. (x2)

AS THE DEER PANTS FOR THE WATER

As the deer pants for the water, so my soul longs after You.

You alone are my heart's desire, and I long to worship You.

You alone are my strength, my shield; to You alone may my spirit yield.

You alone are my heart's desire, and I long to worship You.

You're my friend and You are my brother, even though You are a King.

I love You more than any other, so much more than anything.

Chorus

I want You more than gold or silver, only You can satisfy.

You alone are the real joy giver, and the apple of my eye.
Chorus

ASCRIBE GREATNESS TO OUR GOD THE ROCK

Ascribe greatness to our God, the Rock, His work is perfect,

And all His ways are just.  (x2)

A God of faithfulness and without injustice, good and upright is He. (x2)

AT THE NAME OF JESUS

At the name of Jesus, every knee shall bow,
very tongue confess Him. King of glory now;
‘Tis the Father’s pleasure, we should call Him Lord,
Who from the beginning, was the mighty Word.

At His voice creation sprang at once to sight,
All the angel faces, all the hosts of light;
Throne and dominations, stars upon their way,
All the heavenly orders, in their great array.

Humbled for a season, to receive a name
From the lips of sinners, unto whom He came;
Faithfully He bore it, spotless to the last;
Brought it back victorious, when from death He passed.

Name Him, brothers, name Him, with love strong as death,
But with awe and wonder, and with bated breath;
He is God the Saviour, He is Christ the Lord,
Ever to be worshipped, trusted, and adored.

In your hearts enthrone Him; there let Him subdue
All that is not holy, all that is not true;
Crown Him as your Captain, in temptation’s hour,
Let His will enfold you, in its light and power.

Brothers, this Lord Jesus, shall return again,
With His Father’s glory, with His angel train;
For all wreaths of empire, meet upon His brow,
And our hearts confess Him, King of glory now.
