God has created families as the basic building blocks of human society. In His wisdom, He has designed unique and important roles for husbands, wives, parents, and children, to be exercised for His glory. When a family functions according to God’s design, their home becomes a unique and irreplaceable setting for biblical instruction, depiction of God’s nature and the gospel, formation of godly character, facilitating edifying relationships, preparation for service, multiplication, and so much more. With God’s help, a biblically-ordered family will be a source of great blessing to others.
However, sin corrupts God’s good design for the family in tragic ways. Homes that could be a showcase of joyful worship to Christ instead glorify selfishness, conflict, impurity, and all kinds of evil.
Yet God’s Word instructs how families can begin to untangle even the most complicated family problems. Through the gospel, God transforms believing family members into new creatures with God-glorifying desires by the power of His Spirit. The Bible lays out a blueprint for returning to God’s design for the family, correcting countless distortions. When Christ is exalted in our homes, the effects are noticeable in virtually every area.
The goal of this year’s conference is to demonstrate how this transformation works, by examining several common family problems and showing how God’s Word speaks to each with authority and precision. Our desire is that, having seen how Scripture untangles these problems, Christians will be encouraged to look to God’s Word instead of the philosophies and techniques of human wisdom to solve problems within their homes and the homes of others.
